Here’s what changes when you have the right general liability insurance. You can bid on bigger contracts because you’ve got the certificate of insurance landlords and general contractors require before you even start work. You’re not scrambling to find proof of coverage the day before a project kicks off.
When someone claims your work caused property damage or that they got injured at your business location, you’re not writing a check from your personal account. Your policy covers legal defense costs, settlements, and judgments up to your limit. That’s the difference between a lawsuit being an inconvenience and a business-ending event.
You also get to focus on running your business instead of lying awake wondering what happens if something goes wrong. Most Arizona small businesses pay around $42 per month for general liability coverage. That’s less than your phone bill to protect everything you’ve built.
We’re a family-owned independent agency based in Mesa, serving Maricopa Colony and businesses across Arizona. We’ve earned over 930 five-star Google reviews because we do something most insurance companies don’t—we actually pick up the phone when you call.
We represent more than 40 top-rated insurance carriers. That means we’re not trying to force you into one company’s policy whether it fits or not. We shop your coverage across multiple carriers to find the best combination of protection and price for your specific business.
Our agents live and work in Arizona. We understand the local market, from the construction boom in Maricopa County to the specific requirements contractors face when bidding on projects in the Phoenix metro area. You’re not talking to someone reading from a script in another state.
First, you tell us about your business. What industry you’re in, how many employees you have, your annual revenue, and what kind of work you do. This takes about ten minutes, and you can call us directly or fill out a form online.
Then we shop your coverage across our network of carriers. We’re looking at general liability limits, whether you need commercial auto insurance for work vehicles, if workers compensation insurance is required for your employees, and whether professional liability insurance or errors and omissions insurance makes sense for your industry. We’re also checking if you need commercial property insurance for your equipment or office space.
You get quotes from multiple carriers with our recommendation on which policy gives you the best value. Not the cheapest—the best. Once you choose, we handle the paperwork and can even cancel your old policy if you’re switching. You’ll have your certificate of insurance in hand, usually within a day or two, ready to submit for whatever contract or lease requires it.
Ready to get started?
General liability insurance covers third-party bodily injury and property damage claims. If a client trips over your equipment at a job site in Maricopa Colony, or if your work accidentally damages someone’s property, your policy responds. This includes legal defense costs even if the lawsuit is completely baseless.
You’re also covered for personal and advertising injury claims. That includes things like libel, slander, or copyright infringement in your marketing materials. Medical payments coverage handles minor injuries without a lawsuit—if someone gets hurt at your business location, your policy can pay their immediate medical bills regardless of who’s at fault.
Arizona businesses face specific pressures right now. General liability rates have climbed 7% to 12% statewide, partly due to nuclear verdicts in Maricopa County construction injury cases exceeding $5 million. Carriers are more selective about who they cover and at what price. That’s exactly why working with an independent agency matters—we can find you coverage even when the market tightens, and we’re comparing rates across 40+ carriers instead of just one.
Your coverage also travels with you. Whether you’re working in Maricopa Colony, Phoenix, Mesa, or anywhere else in Arizona, your policy follows your business operations throughout the state.
Arizona doesn’t legally require most businesses to carry general liability insurance. There’s no state mandate saying you must have it just to operate. But that doesn’t mean you can skip it.
Here’s the reality. If you have even one employee, Arizona law requires workers compensation insurance—that’s non-negotiable. And while general liability isn’t legally required, it’s practically required if you want to actually do business. Most commercial landlords won’t lease you space without proof of liability coverage and a certificate of insurance showing minimum limits. General contractors require subcontractors to carry specific coverage amounts before they’ll let you on a job site. Many clients, especially larger companies or municipalities, won’t sign a contract with you unless you can prove you’re insured.
Certain licensed professionals like contractors may need to show proof of insurance to maintain their license or pull permits. So while the state isn’t forcing you to buy it, the market is. You’ll lose bids, contracts, and opportunities without it.
Most small businesses in Arizona pay around $42 per month for general liability insurance. But your actual cost depends on your specific situation—your industry, revenue, number of employees, claims history, and the coverage limits you choose.
Low-risk businesses pay less. If you run a consulting business or work from home with no employees, you might pay $16 to $30 per month. Higher-risk industries pay more. Contractors, especially those in construction trades, can pay anywhere from $100 to $867 per month depending on the type of work. Pressure washing businesses, for example, face some of the highest rates because of the injury and property damage risks involved.
Your coverage limits also affect your price. A $1 million per occurrence / $2 million aggregate policy costs less than a $2 million / $4 million policy. Most contracts and leases require at minimum $1 million in coverage, but some larger projects demand higher limits. The good news is we can show you quotes from multiple carriers at different limit levels so you can see exactly what you’re paying for each layer of protection. That’s the advantage of working with an independent agency—you’re not stuck with one company’s pricing.
General liability insurance covers bodily injury and property damage you cause to other people or their property. Someone slips and falls at your office, or your equipment damages a client’s building—that’s general liability. It’s about physical harm and physical damage.
Professional liability insurance, also called errors and omissions insurance or E&O insurance, covers mistakes in the professional services you provide. If you give bad advice, miss a deadline, make an error in your work, or fail to deliver what you promised, and a client sues you for financial damages, that’s professional liability. It covers your professional mistakes, not physical accidents.
Most businesses need general liability. Service-based businesses—consultants, accountants, real estate agents, insurance agents, IT professionals, architects, engineers—also need professional liability because their work product is advice or expertise, not physical goods. If you’re a contractor, general liability covers you if your work causes property damage, but professional liability would cover you if you made a design error or failed to meet building specifications that cost the client money. Many Arizona businesses carry both policies because they cover completely different risks. We can walk you through which combination makes sense for your specific business and industry.
Yes, in most cases. Once your policy is active, we can generate and send you a certificate of insurance immediately. If you’re starting a new policy, the timeline depends on how quickly we can process your application and get you bound with a carrier, but we can usually have you covered within 24 to 48 hours.
Certificates of insurance are free—they’re just proof that you have an active policy. You’ll need them constantly if you’re a contractor or service provider. Every time you bid a new project, sign a lease, or work with a new client, someone’s going to ask for a current certificate showing your coverage limits and that your policy is paid up.
One of the biggest complaints we hear from business owners switching to us is that their old insurance company took days to produce a certificate, or they had to call multiple times and leave messages. We don’t operate that way. You call, we answer, and we send your certificate while you’re still on the phone if that’s what you need. We also keep your certificates on file so if you need an updated one sent to a new contractor or landlord, it takes us about two minutes. This is basic service that should be standard, but apparently it’s not—which is why it’s worth mentioning.
If someone files a lawsuit against your business for bodily injury, property damage, or personal injury covered under your general liability policy, you contact us immediately. We file a claim with your insurance carrier, and they assign a claims adjuster and legal defense team to handle your case.
Your insurance company pays for your legal defense. That includes attorney fees, court costs, investigation expenses, and expert witnesses. This is true even if the lawsuit is completely without merit—your carrier still defends you. If the case settles or goes to trial and you lose, your policy pays the settlement or judgment up to your coverage limits.
Here’s what business owners need to understand about the current environment in Arizona. Maricopa County has seen several recent construction injury lawsuits result in nuclear verdicts exceeding $5 million. These massive judgments are pushing insurance carriers to increase rates and scrutinize claims more carefully. That’s why having adequate coverage limits matters more now than it did five years ago. A $1 million policy might have felt like plenty of protection before, but if you’re working on larger commercial projects or in higher-risk industries, you may want to consider higher limits or an umbrella policy for additional protection. We can review your specific exposure and help you decide what limits make sense for your business and the projects you’re taking on.
If you have even one employee in Arizona, you’re legally required to carry workers compensation insurance. That’s state law, not optional. Workers comp covers your employees if they get injured on the job—it pays their medical bills and lost wages while they recover. General liability doesn’t cover your employees. It covers other people—clients, customers, visitors, bystanders.
Most businesses need both. Workers compensation protects your employees. General liability protects you from third-party claims. If your employee gets hurt at work, workers comp responds. If a client gets hurt at your business or you damage their property, general liability responds. They’re separate policies covering separate risks.
Some business owners try to avoid workers comp requirements by classifying workers as independent contractors. That’s risky. Arizona law has specific tests to determine who’s actually an employee versus a contractor, and if you misclassify someone, you can face penalties and fines. You’re also personally liable for their medical bills and lost wages if they get hurt and you don’t have workers comp coverage. We can quote both policies together and often package them with your commercial auto insurance and general liability to get you better rates than buying each policy separately. The goal is making sure you’re fully protected without paying more than you need to.
