Arizona car insurance rates jumped 22% in 2024 alone. If you’re still with the same company you signed up with years ago, you’re likely overpaying by hundreds of dollars a year.
Here’s what most people don’t realize: Progressive insurance might be cheapest for your neighbor, but USAA car insurance or direct auto insurance could save you more based on your driving record, credit, and coverage needs. The only way to know is to actually compare them side by side.
That’s where access matters. We represent over 40 top-rated auto insurance companies, so when you ask for a quote, you’re seeing what Progressive insurance company offers, what GEICO car insurance costs, what AAA insurance charges, and what smaller regional carriers can do. Same information, same coverage levels, real numbers.
You’re not locked into whoever spent the most on TV ads. You’re seeing what actually costs less for your situation.
Premier Choice Insurance is a family-owned independent agency based right here in Arizona. We’ve been helping drivers across Arlington, Buckeye, Goodyear, and the West Valley compare coverage and switch carriers without the hassle for years.
Independent means we’re not tied to one company. We’re not pushing State Farm because that’s all we can sell, or GEICO because we get a bonus. We have access to over 100 insurance carriers, and our job is to find the one that actually fits what you need and what you want to pay.
We’ve earned 930+ five-star reviews on Google because people appreciate straight answers, real comparisons, and someone who picks up the phone when they call. No runaround. No offshore call centers. Just local agents who know Arizona insurance inside and out.
First, we talk. You tell us what you’re currently paying, what coverage you have, and what’s frustrating you about your current auto insurance company. Takes about 10 minutes, and it’s just a conversation. No pressure, no sales pitch.
Second, we shop. We run your information through our network of 40+ carriers—including the big names like Progressive insurance, GEICO car insurance, USAA insurance, direct auto insurance, and AAA insurance, plus regional companies most people have never heard of. We’re looking at the same coverage levels across all of them so you can compare apples to apples.
Third, you decide. We show you the quotes, explain what’s different between them, and answer your questions. If you want to switch, we handle the paperwork and even cancel your old policy for you. If you want to stay where you are, that’s fine too. No hard feelings.
The whole process takes less than a day in most cases. And if your situation changes down the road—you buy a new car, move, add a driver—we’re still here to help you adjust your coverage.

Cheap car insurance isn’t just about the lowest premium. It’s about getting the coverage you actually need without paying for stuff you don’t. In Arizona, you’re required to carry at least $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident in bodily injury liability, plus $15,000 in property damage. That’s the legal minimum, but it’s not always enough.
Here’s why that matters in Arlington and the West Valley: nearly 12% of Arizona drivers have no insurance at all. If one of them hits you, your uninsured motorist coverage is what pays your medical bills and repairs. A lot of people skip it because it adds to the premium, but it’s one of the most important parts of your policy in this state.
We also look at comprehensive and collision coverage, especially if you’re financing your car. Comprehensive covers things like hail damage, dust storm damage, and windshield cracks—common problems in Arizona. A modern windshield replacement with sensors can cost $1,500 or more, and if you’re paying that out of pocket every couple of years, you’re losing money by skipping the coverage.
When we compare quotes from direct auto insurance companies, Progressive insurance company, GEICO, USAA, and others, we’re making sure the coverage is actually comparable. A $50-per-month policy with bare minimum limits isn’t cheaper if it leaves you exposed. We help you figure out where you can cut costs without cutting corners.
When you go directly to Progressive insurance or GEICO car insurance, you’re only seeing what that one company offers. They’ll give you their best price, but they can’t tell you if USAA car insurance, AAA insurance, or a regional carrier would be cheaper for your situation. They only sell their own policies.
An independent agent like us works differently. We represent over 40 auto insurance companies, so when you ask for a quote, we’re comparing all of them at once. Same coverage, same information, multiple prices. You see what Progressive insurance company charges, what direct auto insurance costs, what USAA insurance offers—all in one conversation.
The other advantage is ongoing support. If you buy a policy through a direct auto company’s website and need to file a claim or change your coverage, you’re calling their 1-800 number and dealing with whoever answers. When you work with us, you call the same local office, talk to the same people, and we handle the details for you. No transfer runaround, no offshore call centers.
Arizona drivers pay an average of $1,628 per year for full coverage auto insurance, or about $136 per month. Minimum coverage averages around $798 per year, or $66 per month. But those are statewide averages, and your actual rate depends on where you live, your driving record, your credit score, and the car you drive.
Arlington and the West Valley tend to be slightly lower than Phoenix, Mesa, or Scottsdale because there’s less traffic congestion and fewer accidents. But you’re still dealing with Arizona-specific risks like uninsured drivers, dust storms, and extreme heat that can affect your car. Insurance companies price all of that into your premium.
The bigger factor is how often you shop. People who compare auto insurance companies and switch carriers save a median of $461 per year, according to industry data. If you’ve been with the same company for five or ten years and haven’t shopped around, you’re almost certainly overpaying. Rates change constantly, and what was cheap three years ago might not be competitive today.
USAA car insurance is only available to active-duty military, veterans, and their immediate family members. If you’re eligible, it’s worth quoting—USAA consistently ranks high for customer satisfaction and claims handling. But if you’re not connected to the military, you won’t qualify.
That’s one reason why working with an independent agent matters. If USAA isn’t an option for you, we have access to 40+ other carriers that might offer similar coverage and pricing. Some of them are regional companies that don’t advertise nationally but have strong rates for Arizona drivers.
We also see situations where someone was eligible for USAA insurance through a parent or spouse, but that eligibility changes after a divorce or death. If that happens, we can move your coverage to another carrier without a lapse, so you’re not scrambling to find a new policy at the last minute.
Rate increases after a claim are common, especially in Arizona where insurance costs have been climbing across the board. If you file an at-fault accident claim, most auto insurance companies will raise your premium at renewal—sometimes by 20% to 40% depending on the severity of the accident and your prior history.
Policy cancellations are less common but they do happen, usually after multiple claims in a short period or if the insurance company decides to stop writing policies in your area. If that happens, you’ll get a non-renewal notice, typically 30 to 60 days before your policy ends.
Here’s where having an independent agent helps. If Progressive insurance or GEICO car insurance raises your rate or non-renews you, we can immediately shop your policy with our other carriers. You’re not starting from scratch or filling out applications on five different websites. We already have your information, and we can get you quotes from AAA insurance, direct auto insurance, and other companies within a day. We’ve helped hundreds of Arizona drivers switch carriers after a rate hike or cancellation, and in many cases, they end up with better coverage at a lower price than they were paying before the increase.
Arizona requires $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident in bodily injury liability, plus $15,000 in property damage coverage. That’s the legal minimum, but it’s not much protection if you cause a serious accident.
Here’s a real-world example: if you’re at fault in a crash and the other driver has $40,000 in medical bills, your $25,000 in coverage pays the first $25,000. You’re personally responsible for the other $15,000. If they sue you, they can go after your savings, your home, your wages—anything you own. The same applies to property damage. If you total someone’s $50,000 truck, your $15,000 in coverage doesn’t come close.
Most independent agents, including us, recommend at least $100,000/$300,000 in liability coverage, sometimes higher if you own a home or have significant assets. The cost difference between minimum coverage and higher limits is usually $20 to $40 per month, and it’s some of the cheapest protection you can buy. We also strongly recommend uninsured motorist coverage in Arizona, since 12% of drivers here have no insurance at all. If one of them hits you, your uninsured motorist coverage is what pays your medical bills and repairs your car.
The only way to know if you’re getting a good deal is to compare what multiple auto insurance companies would charge for the same coverage. A $90-per-month policy from Progressive insurance might sound cheap until you find out GEICO car insurance would charge $70 for the same limits, or that a regional carrier we work with would do it for $65.
That’s why shopping matters, and why it’s easier to do it through an independent agent than on your own. If you go to five different websites and fill out five different quote forms, you’re spending hours entering the same information over and over—and you still might not be comparing the coverage accurately. When you work with us, we do that work for you in one conversation.
We also look at discounts you might be missing. Most people know about safe driver discounts and multi-car discounts, but there are also discounts for paying in full, bundling with home insurance, having certain safety features in your car, or even being a member of certain professional organizations. Some carriers offer better discounts than others, and we know which ones to ask about. The goal isn’t just cheap car insurance—it’s the right coverage at the best price for your specific situation.
