Here’s what happens when you work with an independent agency instead of calling Progressive, GEICO, State Farm, or USAA directly. You get access to all of them at once—plus dozens more—without repeating your information or playing phone tag with automated systems.
We pull quotes from over 40 top-rated auto insurance companies and show you what actually fits. Not what some algorithm thinks you need. Not the cheapest policy that leaves you exposed. The coverage that makes sense for how you drive, where you live in Scottsdale, and what you’re trying to protect.
Scottsdale drivers already pay more than the Arizona average—about $2,496 annually compared to $2,333 statewide. That’s $163 extra just for your ZIP code. You’re not imagining it. Higher property values, more luxury vehicles on the road, and denser traffic around Old Town and the 101 all factor into your rate. So does your carrier, your coverage limits, and whether anyone’s actually shopping on your behalf.
Premier Choice Insurance is a family-owned independent agency based in Arizona. We’ve been quoting auto insurance in Scottsdale and across the Valley since 2015, and we’re not tied to any single carrier. That means we’re not pushing GEICO because we have to, or steering you toward USAA because of some quota.
We represent over 100 insurance carriers. When you call, you’re talking to someone local who picks up the phone, pulls your options, and walks you through what’s actually different between them. No offshore call centers. No runaround.
Our team has earned over 930 five-star reviews on Google, been named Agents of the Year in 2023, and ranked as one of the Three Best Rated Insurance Agents in Mesa. We work with drivers all over Scottsdale—from Desert Ridge to DC Ranch to South Scottsdale—and we know what matters here. Heat damage. Glass claims from highway rock chips. Theft trends by neighborhood. Commute patterns that affect your annual mileage.
First, we ask about your current coverage, your vehicles, your driving record, and what you’re trying to accomplish. Are you looking for cheap car insurance that still covers you properly? Trying to leave a carrier that spiked your rate after a claim? Adding a teen driver and need to keep your premium manageable? This part takes about 10 minutes.
Then we run your profile through our carrier network. That includes direct auto insurance companies like GEICO and Progressive, along with regional carriers and specialty options you won’t find by Googling. We’re looking at liability limits, collision and comprehensive coverage, uninsured motorist protection, and any endorsements that matter in Scottsdale—like higher glass coverage or roadside assistance for summer breakdowns.
Once we have your quotes, we walk through them with you. We’ll show you the difference between a $500 deductible and $1,000. What it costs to bump your liability from state minimums to something that actually protects your assets if you cause a serious accident on the 101. Whether bundling your home and auto saves enough to make it worth it. You make the call. We just make sure you understand what you’re buying.

Arizona requires liability coverage—$25,000 per person for injuries, $50,000 per accident, and $15,000 for property damage. That’s the legal minimum. It’s also not nearly enough if you hit someone in a new Tesla or cause a multi-car accident during rush hour on Scottsdale Road. You could be personally liable for the difference, and that can follow you for years.
Most drivers in Scottsdale carry higher liability limits, plus collision and comprehensive coverage. Collision pays for damage to your car after an accident, regardless of fault. Comprehensive covers theft, vandalism, hail, fire, and hitting wildlife—all real risks here. Glass coverage matters too. If you commute on the Loop 101 or take Pima Road regularly, you’re getting pelted with rocks. A standalone glass policy or lower deductible can save you from paying $500 every time your windshield cracks.
Uninsured motorist coverage is another big one. About 13% of Arizona drivers don’t carry insurance. If one of them hits you, this coverage steps in. It’s not required, but it’s cheap relative to what it protects. Same with medical payments coverage, which handles your hospital bills after an accident without waiting on a liability claim to settle.
We also help you evaluate whether you need rental reimbursement, roadside assistance, or gap coverage if you’re financing a vehicle. These aren’t upsells. They’re line items that either make sense for your situation or don’t. We’ll tell you which is which.
There’s no universal answer because rates vary based on your age, vehicle, driving record, credit, and coverage needs. GEICO and Progressive often show up as low-cost options for drivers with clean records. USAA consistently offers competitive rates, but you need military affiliation to qualify. Direct auto insurance companies like The General or Acceptance may quote lower if you have a rough driving history, but their coverage terms are often more restrictive.
What matters more than the brand name is whether you’re comparing the same coverage limits. A $50-per-month policy with state minimums isn’t cheaper than a $120-per-month policy with full coverage—it’s just less protection. That’s why quoting through an independent agency makes sense. We pull rates from 40+ carriers using identical coverage specs, so you’re comparing apples to apples.
Cheap car insurance is only a good deal if it actually pays when you need it. The goal is the lowest rate for the right coverage, not the lowest rate period.
Arizona auto insurance rates have climbed across the board. Statewide, premiums increased roughly 22% through 2024, with another 8% hike expected in 2025. That’s not unique to your carrier—it’s an industry-wide trend driven by rising vehicle repair costs, more expensive medical claims, increased accident frequency, and higher rates of vehicle theft and total losses.
Even if your driving record is spotless, your rate can increase when your carrier adjusts their pricing model for your area or risk profile. Scottsdale drivers are particularly affected because of higher property values, more luxury cars, and denser traffic patterns. Insurers also factor in inflation, supply chain delays for auto parts, and the growing cost of technology in newer vehicles—things like sensors, cameras, and advanced safety systems that are expensive to repair or replace.
If your rate jumped significantly and you haven’t shopped around in a few years, that’s a signal. Loyalty doesn’t usually pay off in auto insurance. Carriers count on inertia. We help you compare what else is out there so you’re not stuck overpaying out of habit.
Buying direct from GEICO, Progressive, USAA, or State Farm means you’re only seeing that one company’s rate and coverage options. If they’re the best fit, great. But you won’t know unless you’ve compared them to 10 or 20 others, and most people don’t have the time or patience to do that.
When you work with an independent insurance agency like ours, you get access to all those carriers at once—including GEICO and Progressive—plus dozens of others. We’re not employed by any of them, so we’re not incentivized to steer you toward one brand. We just show you what’s competitive and let you decide. If GEICO wins, we write the policy through GEICO. If a regional carrier beats them by $600 a year with better coverage, we’ll tell you that too.
The other advantage is ongoing service. If you need to file a claim, adjust your coverage, or add a vehicle, you call us—not an 800 number. If your rate spikes at renewal, we re-shop it. If your life changes and your policy needs to change with it, we handle that. It costs you nothing extra. We get paid by the carrier regardless of where you buy, so you might as well get the comparison and the service.
Arizona’s minimum liability coverage is $25,000 per person for injuries, $50,000 per accident, and $15,000 for property damage. If you cause an accident and the damages exceed those limits, you’re personally responsible for the difference. That can mean wage garnishment, liens against your property, or a lawsuit that follows you for years.
Let’s say you rear-end someone on Scottsdale Road and they need surgery. Medical bills hit $60,000. Your policy covers the first $25,000. You’re on the hook for the remaining $35,000. Or you hit a parked Porsche Cayenne and cause $30,000 in damage. Your policy pays $15,000. The owner’s insurance or the owner themselves can come after you for the other $15,000. It’s not theoretical. It happens regularly in Scottsdale, where vehicle values and medical costs are both higher than average.
Minimum coverage also doesn’t include collision or comprehensive, so if your own car is damaged, you’re paying out of pocket to fix or replace it. If your car is totaled and you’re still making payments, you’re stuck covering the loan on a vehicle you can’t drive. That’s why most drivers carry higher liability limits and add collision and comprehensive. It’s not about being paranoid—it’s about being realistic.
Yes, but it’s more complicated and more expensive. After a DUI in Arizona, you’re typically required to file an SR-22, which is a certificate proving you carry at least the state-minimum liability coverage. Not all auto insurance companies offer SR-22 policies, and the ones that do charge significantly higher premiums because you’re now considered high-risk.
If your license is currently suspended, you can’t legally drive, but you may still need to maintain insurance on a vehicle you own—especially if it’s financed or leased. Some carriers will write a parked-car policy. Others won’t touch you until your license is reinstated. Once you’re eligible to drive again, you’ll still face higher rates for three to five years, depending on your carrier and how your record looks overall.
This is where working with an independent agency helps. We have access to carriers that specialize in high-risk drivers, including direct auto insurance companies that focus on non-standard policies. We can also help you understand what documentation you need, how to file your SR-22, and what your options are for reducing your rate over time as the DUI ages off your record. It’s not a fun process, but it’s manageable if you know who to call.
Usually, yes—but not always, and not with every carrier. Most auto insurance companies offer a multi-policy discount if you bundle your home and car insurance with them. That discount typically ranges from 5% to 25%, depending on the carrier and your coverage levels. For some drivers in Scottsdale, that can mean saving $300 to $600 a year.
But bundling only makes sense if the combined rate is actually lower than buying each policy separately from different carriers. Sometimes the discount sounds good on paper, but the base rate is inflated enough that you’d still pay less by splitting your policies. That’s especially true if you have a high-value home in North Scottsdale or a luxury vehicle—carriers price those risks differently, and one company’s homeowners rate might be terrible even if their auto rate is competitive.
We run both scenarios. We’ll quote your auto and home together with carriers like State Farm, Progressive, and AAA insurance, and we’ll also quote them separately to see where you land. If bundling saves you money without cutting corners on coverage, we’ll recommend it. If it doesn’t, we’ll tell you that too. The goal is the best total price for the right protection, not just checking a box because bundling sounds smart.
