Your premium jumped 30% this year. Your company won’t return calls. Or they dropped you after one claim, and now you’re scrambling to find coverage before your registration expires.
That’s not unusual in Arizona right now. Rates across the state went up over 20% in 2024 alone. Carriers like Progressive, Geico, and State Farm are all adjusting—some more than others. The problem isn’t that insurance got more expensive. It’s that you’re only seeing one company’s version of expensive.
When you work with an independent agency, you’re comparing real quotes from 40+ carriers at once. That includes the names you know—Progressive Insurance, Geico car insurance, USAA insurance, AAA insurance, Direct Auto—and plenty you don’t. Some of them are priced significantly lower for the exact same coverage. You just never had access to them before.
Premier Choice Insurance is a family-owned independent agency serving Wintersburg and the surrounding Maricopa County area. We’ve been doing this for years, and we’re still here because we answer the phone, show up when there’s a claim, and don’t disappear after you sign.
We’re not captive to one carrier. That means we’re not trying to sell you State Farm when Travelers is $60 cheaper. We represent over 100 insurance companies, and our job is to find the one that actually fits your situation—not the one paying us the highest commission.
You’ll work with a local agent who understands Arizona roads, monsoon season, and why your rates spiked after that dust storm claim. We’ve earned over 930 five-star reviews on Google, and we were named Agents of the Year in 2023. That doesn’t happen by accident.
First, you call or message us with some basic info—your current coverage, your vehicles, your drivers. Takes about five minutes. We’re not running your credit or pulling your driving record yet. We’re just getting a sense of what you need.
Next, we shop your profile across our network of carriers. That includes the big names like Progressive Insurance Company, Geico, USAA car insurance, Direct Auto Insurance Company, and AAA Insurance—but also regional carriers that often beat them on price. We’re looking at the same coverage limits across all of them so you’re comparing apples to apples.
Then we walk you through the real options. Not every cheap car insurance quote is actually cheap once you read the fine print. Some exclude glass coverage in Arizona, which is a problem when rocks crack your windshield every summer. Some have higher deductibles or lower liability limits. We explain what you’re actually buying, and we let you decide what makes sense. If you want to switch, we’ll handle the cancellation of your old policy at no cost.
Ready to get started?
When you work with us, you’re getting quotes from over 40 top-rated auto insurance companies. That includes household names and carriers you’ve never heard of that consistently offer better rates for Arizona drivers. You’re not paying extra for this service. Independent agencies get paid by the carriers, not by you.
You also get a real person who picks up the phone. If you need to file a claim, adjust your coverage, or add a driver, you’re calling someone in Mesa who already knows your policy. You’re not explaining your situation to a different representative every time or waiting on hold with an offshore call center.
We also handle the paperwork when you switch. If you’re moving from Geico car insurance to a better rate with another carrier, we’ll cancel your old policy, coordinate the effective dates, and make sure there’s no lapse in coverage. In Arizona, a lapse can trigger an SR-22 requirement or a license suspension, so timing matters. We make sure it’s done right.
And if your situation changes—you buy a new car, your kid starts driving, you move to Surprise or Buckeye—we’ll re-shop your policy to make sure you’re still getting the best rate. That’s not a one-time thing. It’s ongoing.
Arizona saw some of the steepest rate increases in the country over the past two years. The average annual premium jumped over $230 in 2024 alone, and many drivers saw increases of 30% or more. That’s not just your company—it’s happening across the board with Progressive, Geico, State Farm, and nearly every other carrier.
The reasons are a mix of inflation, higher repair costs, and a surge in claims. Cars are more expensive to fix now because of all the sensors and cameras. Medical costs went up. And Arizona had a spike in fraudulent claims and lawsuits that forced carriers to adjust their rates to stay solvent.
But here’s the thing: not every company raised rates by the same amount. Some went up 40%. Others went up 15%. If you’ve been with the same carrier for years and didn’t shop around, you might be overpaying by hundreds of dollars. That’s why comparing quotes from multiple auto insurance companies right now makes a big difference.
When you buy direct from Geico car insurance or Progressive insurance, you’re only seeing their rates. If they’re not competitive for your profile, you won’t know unless you go to another website and start over. That’s fine if you have the time and patience to request quotes from 10 different carriers individually.
An independent agent does that work for you in one shot. We represent 40+ companies, so we can pull quotes from Progressive, Geico, USAA insurance, AAA insurance, Direct Auto, Travelers, Safeco, and others all at once. Same coverage, same limits, different prices. You see the comparison in real time, and you pick the one that makes sense.
The other advantage is service. If you have a claim or need to make a change, you’re calling us—not an 800 number. We already know your policy, and we can usually handle it the same day. You also have someone in your corner if a claim gets denied or delayed. We work with the carrier on your behalf because we have a relationship with them. That’s harder to do when you’re just a policy number in a call center queue.
No. Shopping for car insurance does not hurt your credit. Insurance companies may check your credit as part of underwriting, but it’s a soft inquiry, not a hard pull. It won’t affect your score the way applying for a credit card or a loan does.
Your driving record is already on file with the state, and carriers pull it when they quote you. That’s not something you can change by avoiding quotes. If you have tickets or accidents on your record, they’re going to show up no matter where you apply. The question is which carrier penalizes you the least for them.
Switching carriers also doesn’t create any kind of red flag. People switch all the time, especially in Arizona right now with rates going up. As long as you don’t let your coverage lapse, there’s no downside. In fact, staying with the same company for years without shopping around usually costs you more. Loyalty doesn’t get rewarded in insurance—new customers often get better rates than long-term policyholders.
It’s more common than it should be. A lot of drivers in Arizona filed claims in the past two years—hail damage from monsoons, cracked windshields, accidents—and then got non-renewal notices a few months later. Carriers don’t always drop you outright, but they’ll choose not to renew your policy when it’s up, which has the same effect.
If that happens, you need coverage fast. Arizona requires proof of insurance to register your vehicle, and if you let your policy lapse, you could face fines or a suspended license. The good news is that there are carriers who specialize in writing policies for drivers who’ve been dropped or have claims on their record. They’re not always the cheapest, but they’ll cover you.
That’s where an independent agency helps. We know which companies will take you and which ones won’t waste your time. We can usually get you quoted and bound the same day. And once you’re placed, we’ll keep shopping your policy every six months to move you back to a standard carrier as soon as your record clears. You’re not stuck in high-risk insurance forever—it’s just a bridge until things stabilize.
It depends on your profile. USAA car insurance is only available to military members, veterans, and their families, but if you qualify, they’re often very competitive. They tend to have lower rates for clean driving records and good credit, and their customer service is consistently ranked high. That said, they’re not always the cheapest—we’ve seen them beat by Travelers, Safeco, and even Progressive depending on the driver.
AAA insurance is available to anyone, but you have to be a AAA member to get a quote. Their rates are middle-of-the-road in Arizona. They’re not usually the lowest, but they’re not the highest either. Where they stand out is bundling discounts and roadside assistance, which is already included with your membership. If you’re someone who uses AAA for towing and travel benefits anyway, it might make sense to consolidate.
The bigger point is that no single carrier is cheapest for everyone. A company that quotes you $150 a month might quote your neighbor $90 for the same coverage because of age, zip code, credit, or claims history. That’s why comparing multiple auto insurance companies is the only way to know what you should actually be paying. We run the numbers and show you where you land with each one.
If your car is paid off and not worth much, minimum liability might make sense. Arizona requires $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident for bodily injury, plus $15,000 for property damage. That’s enough to keep you legal, but it’s not enough to protect you if you cause a serious accident. If you hit someone and the damages exceed your limits, they can come after your assets—your house, your savings, your wages.
Full coverage adds collision and comprehensive, which covers your own vehicle if it’s damaged or stolen. If you’re still making payments on your car, your lender requires it. If you own it outright, it’s a judgment call based on what the car is worth and whether you could afford to replace it out of pocket.
Here’s what we see a lot in Arizona: people drop full coverage to save money, then a dust storm cracks their windshield or a rock chips their paint, and they’re stuck paying $500 to fix it themselves. Comprehensive coverage in Arizona often costs less than $15 a month, and it covers glass, weather, theft, and vandalism. For most people, it’s worth keeping even if you drop collision. We’ll walk through the math with you so you’re making the call with real numbers, not guesses.
